Winter 2015 has hopefully come to an end for us here in southern Illinois! And of course a week ago it had to show off one last Hoorah with another 4 or so inches of snow! This past weekend, March 8th, the warmer temps had Rick eager to start the tearing off of the Bouncy House roof to really get a look at what damage was there. Up the ladder armed with tools he started removing hardware, vent covers and the existing rubber roof. Ooooh my, we are in for some labor intense hours of the roof repairs, a little more than we originally had thought. But at least once these repairs are done and new roofing on- We can begin the part of this makeover that I am looking forward to! lol Decorating!! Anxious to make the transformation for sure.
As most that have an RV or Motor home can probably say that they have added their own personal touches to their rigs.
Back to repair work- We know that we will replace an interior side wall panel around the dinette area. As well as a complete cab-over being done. We are thinking of just adding a cabinet front across the bunk area and turning that all into storage. As it is just the two of us that would be traveling/living in the motor home and not needing the cab-over bunk for sleeping. The water damaged ceiling panels will have to be replaced as well. Most of that goes just beyond the kitchen area- so about 3/4 of the ceiling will need replaced with new panels. I keep suggesting this or that as far as decorative touches, Rick on the other hand cannot see beyond just getting the new roof and cab-over done- and reminds me of this almost daily lol Yes, honey I realize we need those things done first, but I am trying to stay a step ahead with knowing how to do the other things. Lol
I would love to repaint the cabinets- since we will be painting interior wall and ceiling sections anyways- makes sense, right? I do not care for the pinkish tone fake wood look that we have. I am thinking white- a fresh airy look and then adding the splashes of color in the new fabrics for the dinette cushions and curtains.
I will say that once I got my hands on a phillips head screwdriver- the first thing I took out of the motor home was the pinkish fabric covered valances and the mini blinds in there.
Our biggest obstacle in the repair phase and make over is the fact that we do not have a garage or storage area large enough to put the motor home inside while we do the work. After removing a lot of the roofing this weekend, ole Bouncy House is under a tarp for now. It rained the next day- of course! But all seems well so far with the tarp coverage. Now to get a few more sunny days so we can start the removal of cab-over section and get that rebuilt.
We have added new pictures taken this weekend of the roof tear down.
See ya again on a sunny day!
